Audience Safety:

At this time, masks are highly encouraged but not required for audience members. Due to the interactive nature of many Filament experiences, you may find yourself playing alongside someone outside of your household. We encourage everyone to make decisions that keep themselves and others safe and comfortable.

If you or a member of your household is experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, had a direct exposure, or has received a positive COVID-19 test, please stay home and contact us at boxoffice@filamenttheatre.org and we will exchange your tickets for a later date.

Our performers and facilitators are tested weekly for COVID-19 and follow a comprehensive safety policy. Please note that performers will be unmasked during performances.

Proof of vaccination & masking:

At this time, Filament is not requiring audience members to provide proof of vaccination for entry. Staff members, artists, and participants in our education programs are still required to provide proof of vaccination. All guests age 2 and older are encouraged to wear a KN95 or N95 medical or well-fitting cloth mask over their nose and mouth while in the theater, regardless of vaccination status. If you do not have an appropriate mask, one can be made available to you.

ATTENDING A PERFORMANCE OF FORTS

CHECKING IN:

  • Enter the front door and join the queue to check in at the box office.
  • There may be no more than 3 children for every 1 adult ticket purchased. If you would like to bring a larger group of children, there will be an additional fee for us to provide additional facilitators.
  • All participants will be asked to take off their shoes, so please bring appropriate socks.
  • The experience lasts about one hour.
  • A limited # of walk-up tickets will be available at each performance to accommodate last minute additions to your party

FLEXIBLE EXCHANGES:

For the health and safety of all guests and staff, please do not visit the theater if anyone in your group is sick or exhibiting COVID-like symptoms.

If you have already purchased tickets and must postpone your visit due to illness, contact boxoffice@filamenttheatre.org or text 773-270-1660 to reschedule your visit.

Exchanges requested less than 3 hours prior to a performance may be subject to fees. If you can not attend and do not communicate with us in advance, there will be no refunds or exchanges available.

Visiting Filament Theatre

Filament Theatre is a flexible performance space located in the heart of the Historic Six Corners Shopping District. The performance area and seating arrangements shift based on the specific event you plan to attend.

Location:

  • Filament Theatre is located at 4041 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60641. Filament is positioned on the first floor of the Portage Arts Lofts building. The building also features The National Veteran’s Art Museum, The Chicago Ballet Center, and the Six Corners Association.

About the space:

  • Filament Theatre is located on the first floor and provides space for patrons in wheelchairs to remain in their wheelchair while viewing the performance.
  • Filament has two all gender / family restrooms. There are additional restrooms available on the second floor

Directions:

  • Filament is easily accessible via the Irving Park exit on 90/94. Turn west on Irving Park Ave and at the six corners turn slight right onto Milwaukee Ave. Filament will be on your right across from the Portage Theatre.
  • Public transit: Take the Blue Line to Irving Park and transfer to the Irving Park Bus (#80) headed west. Get off at Cicero & Milwaukee.
  • Milwaukee Bus #56 & Irving Park Bus #80
  • A Divvy station is located across the street from Filament on West Cuyler Ave.

Parking:

  • Street parking is available in front of the theater. Meters are active from 8am-10pm Monday-Saturday with a 3 hour maximum at $2/hr.
  • Additional parking is available at the Laporte Ave. Public Parking Lot located 1 block west of the theater via West Cuyler Ave.

Concessions:

  • As part of Filament’s Safety Protocol we are not offering concessions at this time. 

All concessions sales are recognized as donations toward fulfilling Filament’s mission.

Looking for a meal or a snack before or after a performance at Filament Theatre? You’re in luck. There are many dining options near our theater in Portage Park. Here’s a sampling:

Community Tavern

For an upscale (yet family-friendly) dinner, check out Community Tavern. Reservations are recommended here. On Tuesdays through Thursdays, as well as Sundays, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée. Little ones might enjoy the grilled cheese on brioche with skinny fries. Their grown-up dates shouldn’t miss the great wine list, coconut-lemongrass soup, and assortment of dumpling and noodle dishes.

This family-owned restaurant and bar is a popular neighborhood gathering place, with a warm, wood-paneled ambiance. It often hosts live music. On the weekends, stop by for a brunch of stuffed French toast. At dinner, share a flatbread. Foundation also boasts an well-curated list of craft cocktails and beers.

Gracie O’Malley’s Six Corners

This festive Irish pub, which has two other Chicago locations, is a sports bar with plentiful TVs. Share a plate of mini corn dogs or cheese curds before diving into a burger, chicken sandwich or sliders.

Gourmet hot dogs in a cheery ketchup-and-mustard-themed space is the vibe at The Hot Dog Box, run by a father-daughter duo. Try a Portage House Hot Dog (made with filet mignon) with a side of popcorn and a craft soda. Not a meat-eater? There are vegan and salmon options.

Junebug Café

The whole family will love Junebug Café’s fresh, powder sugar-dusted beignets. Or, for something savory, try a flaky meat pie or a comforting bowl of gumbo at this New Orleans-inspired café. The café, which is open until 4 p.m., also serves locally roasted Dark Matter coffee.

Tatas Tacos

Looking for lunch or dinner for the whole family? It’s always time for tacos. Whether it’s a quesadilla, taco or burrito, Tatas has you covered. The restaurant offers a long list of classic tacos such as al pastor. But adventurous diners might one to try one of the more creative option like the Jibarito with ribeye steak on a housemade plantain tortilla or the Kraken with grilled octopus and sauteed cactus. The menu also has lots of vegetarian and vegan choices.
